Forming Delta-S LLC to Provide Engineering Design Expertise to Entrepreneurs
I formed Delta-S LLC to provide engineering design expertise to entrepreneurs and small businesses. Many talented people have great ideas and want to make something of them, but they don’t always have a technical background or the software to push those ideas forward.
As someone who has experienced the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, I wanted to help others forge a better path than they otherwise could have. I enjoy jumping into their ideas and brainstorming solutions.
In many cases I would sign NDAs for clients or partners to ensure protection for their ideas; therefore, I won’t be able to share about their products in great detail or post any photos. But I will mention a couple projects that are free from intellectual property concerns:
One client asked if I could design and build a dump trailer insert for his landscaping business. The addition to his trailer now saves him a considerable amount of time and takes a load off his back. The chute insert is installed in his low-deck dump trailer which funnels the gravel, sand, rock, or any other material into a wheelbarrow, shaving time and energy that would otherwise go toward shoveling the material by hand. The panels of the chute can also be hinged away to support the original function of the trailer.
The design was fairly straight-forward but required precise CAD modeling for proper fit and function. We met a few times to take measurements and test cardboard proofs of concept. I modeled the design in SolidWorks and had the parts cut by a 3.3kW fiber laser. I then welded the parts and pieces and installed it in his trailer.
My client says that it works like a dream and is a game-changer for his business.
Another client was working on developing a device for athletes to relieve shin splints, which he called a SHIN-BAR. My client provided sketches, ideas, and a business plan, and I worked with him to revise his designs, using CAD modeling and to prototype parts on an SLA 3D printer.
My primary contributions to his design were the integrated carabiner and the graphic design of his logo. After a few design modifications, he was able to utilize the CAD files to have this hand-held tool cast out of aluminum overseas.
The product was sold on Amazon, paired with Tiger Balm before he sold the SHIN-BAR company.
Photos below include the dump trailer, SHIN-BAR, a chicken de-featherer, harp stand, at-home gym equipment, and more.
